At the centre of this bustling modern town you will find St Peters Cathedral located in a large square of the same name
Playing a key role in the history of the Argolis area it was once up on a time the dominant power even before Mycenae.
Unfortunately due to there being no town planning a lot of its' wonderful past is still buried under many of its' modern apartment blocks.
The Ancient Theatre cut out of the mountain, the Roman Baths and Roman Agora can still be seen though and are well worth visiting.
The small but interesting museum of Argos houses some wonderful mosaics excavated from the ancient site.
The town of Argos is dominated over by the Larissa Venetian fortress high up on the hill.
